| We
are always looking for dedicated firefighters to serve
our communities.
The Centennial Fire
District firefighters are all paid-on-call firefighters.
They respond to emergency calls when their pager goes
off. They are paid by the hour when they are actually
called upon for emergency.
The current compensation is $7.50
or $10.50 per hour depending on certification levels.
In addition to the hourly pay, $3500 is set aside each
year for a pension. A firefighter must stay with the
distrcit for at least 10 years in order to collect the
pension. Vesting starts at 60% at 10 years of service
and goes up 4% per year until it reaches 100% at 20
years.
All new firefighters must attend
a firefighting course, which is 130 hours in length,
and an Emergency Medical Technician course, which is
110 hours in length.
